2015.04.07: “I have seen the Lord”

Mary of Magdala went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and what he told her. – Jn 20:18

I have seen the Lord
He is risen
He is alive He is with us
He is present to us
i have felt his presence
i am but a sinner
who has been forgiven
yet i have seen the Lord
and i have been loved

Ask for the grace to see Him
to feel his presence
Ask and it will be given
so His will be done

2015.04.07: joy of the Lord

You will show me the path to life,
abounding joy in your presence,
the delights at your right hand forever. – Ps 16:11

You opened my eyes
to the beaming joy of mother church
when her lost children visit
even if only twice a year

You opened my ears
to the resounding joy
when gloria and alleluias are sung
after the season of fasting

You opened my heart
to all those who are yet trapped
in the busyness of this world
instead of the joy of your presence

You gave me the grace
to be aware and grateful
for finding the joy of the Lord
in all the things ordinary

2015.04.03: long before … in a garden

Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.” Jn 19:22

long before the arrogant words
humility was spoken in a garden

long before the unjust sentence
a yoke was freely accepted in a garden

long before the jeers of rejection
a choice was freely made in a garden

long before Peter’s denials
love poured out unconditionally in a garden

long before Judas’s betrayal
a father abandoned his son in a garden

long before this act of obedience
disobedience arose in another garden
