last few weeks flew by
like Oklahoma whirlwinds
not much left behind
last few weeks flew by
like Oklahoma whirlwinds
not much left behind
hard to stay afloat
slipping beneath lapping waves
gone before sun sets
surfacing to toss and turn
bad storms and a charley horse
shorter than the time
a tossed rock sinks in the pond
my span in this world
the displaced rock and water
remains long after my wake
by the water’s edge
geese gaggling in the sunlight
lone egret reflects
tall grass do the wave
in the direction we ride
with wind at our back
