Month: August 2018
2018.08.20: verdant
sky like blue bonnet
clouds scattered like sheep grazing
gentle slopes of green
even though it’s almost fall
nature does as nature will
2018.08.19: forsaken
Footnote:
I was in quite a mood that morning as I drove past this abandoned gas station. It was once a busy three-way intersection right off a freeway ramp that many stopped by to fuel up with gasoline or human fuels or both. Inexplicably the fuel pumps were shut down. Then the store. Eventually the building deteriorated and was condemned and razed level to the ground. Time and weather did the rest.
The scene seemed like the appropriate image to reflect how I feel about the state of affairs in country that I lived, adopted, and once proudly call home. Hope was not present that day.
