I certainly think that we are simply passing through, like dinosaurs. Unfortunately our legacy will be felt for hundreds of thousands of years, but a mere blink in geological time. I once wrote a haiku called Ants and from memory it went:
When we are long gone
You shall inherit the earth
Take good care of it.
Great imagery. I rather like natural reclamation.
