    1. On the open plains, our rain comes in the form of thunderstorms more often than steady, gentle rain. The low pressure fronts come barreling over the Rocky Mountains and collide with the warm air coming up from the Gulf of Mexico to create some of the most violent storms in the world. We’re not call tornado alley for dramatic effect. This particular system was just a garden variety summer thunderstorms. It’s the spring ones that are killers.
