late summer deluge
the grasses turn green again
but not on fresh graves
the nature of love and death
known but not well accepted

late summer deluge
the grasses turn green again
but not on fresh graves
the nature of love and death
known but not well accepted
the rain sings softly
then the brooks and rivers –
roaring in refrain
twelve legs and twelve arms
synchronized in one motion
six-pack of runners
This flycatcher and its mate has frequented our backyard all summer. “He” likes to sit on both the chain link fence and the wood panel fence to pick out his meals. I was lucky to have captured him in mid flight snatching his dinner from the air and then fly to the wood fence to savor his catch.

overcast morning
the flycatcher’s on the fence
hunting on both sides
rain falling in sheets
five lanes bumper to bumper
not for faint of heart
respecting each other’s paths
best way for all to get home
