hearts once cut must change
forward lies the narrow gate
walk through to abundant life
what’s that in your paws
is it good to chew or fetch
come away and play
passing gulls, Apr ‘23
drawn from daily grind
looking up and pondering
the cry of the gulls
egret in the greenbelt, Apr ’23
never seen from porch
seeking shelter from the rain
egret hunkered down
how many more need refuge
from the storms of our making
