2015.05.03: not far away

all of my life
you have been with me
walking beside me
accompanying me
on my journey

yet i was unaware
even when you saved me
from the clutch of death
not once but twice
i still did not know you

then when at last
my restless heart
goes seeking for you
only to find you
with me all along

oh what joy it was
the day you removed
the scales from my eyes
and i could see
what my heart
had already known
that you were with me
right from the start

all thanksgiving
and praise be to you
for the gift of grace
to finally be aware
that you are with me
that you will walk with me
every step of the way
on my journey home
