morning readings brought no light
overhead skies reflected interior mood
eyes still raised faithfully to the east
just in time for parting of the clouds
and a cameo by an orange sunrise
drawing rain from an inner wellspring
a seeker finds the smallest of signs
while the world waits for miracles
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Col 3:3
the fast has ended
He’s alive and i’m forgiven
live the hidden life
“I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” – Jn 13:15
Thank you for the grace
to see the irony
that God put on flesh
to wash our feet
so that we can enter
the sanctuary and worship him.
All he asked of us
to do that for one another.
Yet our stubborn minds
and stone hard hearts
refuse to do even that.
We speak the words
but we don’t do the deeds.
Each of us place self
above the others.
He can wash our feet
but he can’t make us clean.
He can clear the Way for us
but he can’t make us stay on the path.
He can give us a model
but he can’t make us follow.
Father, grant me the courage
to follow His model
with people that love me
with people that i love
with people that i hate
with people that hate me.
So they brought the colt to Jesus and put their cloaks over it. And he sat on it. – Mk 11:7
triumphant entrance
the Son riding through palm leaves
calm before the storm
here i sit with you, Lord
where emptiness once ruled
my heart is now filled
with peace, love, and joy
would that i could
stay in this moment
with you forever
yet time passes on
but the cross doesn’t
it awaits
looming
so we must leave
this mountain behind
along with its stillness
and clarity of vision
we must enter the city
to meet the maelstrom
of noise and confusion
Abba, grant me
the courage
to remain with him
as he has been with me,
the fortitude
to abide in the suffering,
and the hope
to wait through darkness
into everlasting light.
