2015.04.28: Lamb and Shepherd

Jesus answered them, “I told you and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify to me. But you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. The Father and I are one. – Jn 10:25-27,30

the Lamb became the Shepherd
the hope of sheep lost

in the fog of time
the Shepherd’s voice speaks always
leading his sheep home

the Lamb came for us
listen and find the Shepherd
One with the Father

2015.04.27: the Shepherd’s voice

Send forth your light and your fidelity;
they shall lead me on
And bring me to your holy mountain,
to your dwelling-place. – Ps 43:3

 
awake awake o sleeper
the long night has ended
Fidelity has kept safe watch
now the Light awaits to lead

come let’s climb the mountain
God is in his dwelling place
waiting with robe and ring
follow the Shepherd’s voice

2015.04.26: knowing the Shepherd

“I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me” = Jn 10:14

the Shepherd came
laid down his life
and took it back up

the hired men came
and cared not for the sheep
but only in money and power

then the Wolf came
and scattered the flock
now there are many folds

many also the shepherds
who lay down their lives
trusting only in the One

the flock hears the Shepherd
and follows his voice; yet deeds
speak louder than creeds

2015.04.25: walking in the light

Blessed the people who know the joyful shout;
in the light of your countenance, O LORD, they walk. – Ps 89:16

strands of light reaching
from here to the horizon
sun on power lines

birds give chase in pairs
cardinals, redwinged blackbirds
you and me in spring

our faces alight
walking in his countenance
our hearts full of joy
