“How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” – Mt 7:14
through the narrow gate
the way, the truth, and the life
open to the light
“How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” – Mt 7:14
through the narrow gate
the way, the truth, and the life

Our soul waits for the LORD,
he is our help and shield. – Ps 33:20
my soul has been waiting
wandering and waiting
vacillating and listless
alive but lifeless
when all else fails
i retreat further inside
where you are waiting
my light and salvation
then you remind me
the spark of my spirit
ignited but forgotten
given for eternity
and rejoicing renews
when the reunion begins
heaven and earth
and soul and spirit
the year’s shortest night
the sun’s northernmost reach marked
everyone sleeps late
“Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin.” – Mt 6:28
i work and i spin
i spend countless moments
crafting words into something
not half as beautiful
as the wild flowers
growing in a patch of light
between the shade of the trees
reaching for the light
always reaching for the light
putting all their energy
into this moment
after the bountiful rain
before the coming heat
and the killing drought
or the severing blade
of the common lawn mower
in this moment
they are all that they can be
what’s stopping me?
If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. – 2 Cor 11:30
only in my weakness
does God’s strength show
only in my emptiness
does the fullness of God manifest
only in my surrender
am i transformed
only in dying
will i be fully alive
