fullness of presence
& emptiness of absence
ebb & flow of life
fullness of presence
& emptiness of absence
ebb & flow of life
Reflecting on the parable of the sinful woman; Lk 7:36-50
between the rapture of being
in the loving presence of God
and the agony of being deprived
of the senses of his presence
lies the middle ground
where choices are made
every moment of every day
the fall from grace
may be the consequence
of one bad choice
or a series of not-so-good choices
or simply not choosing at all
until one awakes
to the dull aching void
of the absence of God
the choice to turn back
cannot be made
and one lives unaware
whether given over to vices
or following passed down traditions
on the path of virtues
while being blissfully ignoring
the presence of God
even when he walks
in the flesh
“And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” – Jn 28:20
i know you now
i know your name
time and time again
i turned to you: avoidance
when the task was too odious
when the road was too lonely
when the pain was too much
and thereby i missed it
the intimacy
the vulnerability
the opportunity
just to be present
that stops now
no longer will i turn away
let it never again be said
that i turned away
let it be remembered forever hence
that it was you who turned away
while my arms remained open
my eyes dried of tears
watching the back of you
walking away
i will call your name
i will remember you
i will regain always
in this moment
