so hard to let go
the glory of these last days
to make room for new

so hard to let go
the glory of these last days
to make room for new
a window of leaves

letting go – and becoming

a blanket of leaves
refusing to go – won’t change
the natural course of life

just past Labor Day
Christmas is crowding store shelves
pushing Thanksgiving

a change in patterns
the heat dome still lingers on
but school is starting
rainy and too cold
not quite winter yet not spring
season in between
