2015.02.21: a greater gratefulness

Jesus said to them in reply, “Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do. I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.” – Lk 5:32

thank you, Lord Jesus
for bringing the light of good news
to those of us who are born into darkness

we who are in heavy in debt
appreciate your generous forgiveness
more than those who are wealthy

we who have serious illnesses
are grateful for your healing presence
more than those who are healthy

we who have been humbled
by our sinful nature have contrite hearts
more open to your love

we who are lost sheep
are more thankful to be found
than those who have never strayed

thank you, Good Shepherd
for bringing the kingdom of God
to the rest of your flock

2015.01.29: Rejoice, People rejoice

Who may go up the mountain of the LORD?
Who can stand in his holy place? Ps 24:3

Rejoice, people rejoice
The Lord is off his holy place
He has descended the mountain
He has come seeking his people

The mountain is a lonely place
There is none whose hands are sinless
Whose hearts are pure and void of vanity
None who are worthy of his holy place

Rejoice, people rejoice
The Lord is off his holy place
He has descended the mountain
He has come seeking his people

He has come to knock on doors
Seeking sinners, prostitutes, and tax collectors
Those who threw away their inheritance
“Anyone with ears ought to hear.”

Rejoice, people rejoice
The Lord is off his holy place
He has descended the mountain
He has come seeking his people

He is calling you; harden not your heart
He already knows all that is secret and hidden
Repent, open up your heart, and be healed
He has come to lead us sinners home

Rejoice, people rejoice
The Lord is off his holy place
He has descended the mountain
He has come seeking his people
