Longing For Water 
I hope everything is alright. Praying that your child is safe and comes home to you.

Thank you for your prayers and concern. My child is a 23 year-old who just finished college, accepted an offer for his first professional job, and moved 5 hours away to live on his own. It’s not that terrible, but it brought into focus for me empathy with the immigrant children on our southern border and the parent(s) they left behind.

Here am I looking forward to my children leaving the nest in the full knowledge that I shall fret when they do go.

Fretting then checking on fledglings is a luxury for which I am grateful.

I have no fledglings, but I can still imagine how hard it is to let them go.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s also very gratifying to see them spread their wings and take flight. No matter where they choose to land and roost at night.
