a pair of blackbirds
he in iridescent black
she in camouflage brown
seemingly content
foraging on the ground
for the eternity . . .
. . . of a moment
before sprouting wings
and returning to the sky
leaving behind a voyeur
in breathless wonder

Longing For Water 
Very nicely done. Our blackbirds have been very present and noisy this year.

It’s unusual to see blackbirds paired off. I usually see them in large groups.

Maybe they are different species, ours most definitely pair up and do not gather in groups.
