To think that I missed most of the blooming season because I was working from home and I empathize with all the workers who are furloughed. And, the idea that most of the wildflowers will have gone to seed is – delightful! Thank you for putting that thought out to seed.
And as another reader pointed out, to seed for next year. Most years they’ll bloom but sometimes get mowed before they have time to seed. It’s not intentional but part of the schedule of the maintenance crew doing their mowing rotation.
Yes – it happens here all the time by our local common. They need to time the mowing just right – which doesn’t always happen when they have so many ‘wild’ areas to mow.
Lucky you! And lucky us, that the state forgoes mowing until after the roadside wildflowers have gone to seed!
