gleaming in sunlight
a structure of steel and glass
the gift of five cranes
A gift of having a regular route on one’s commute is being able to see changes over time. The source of this “haiku” is the site of a new downtown convention hotel that broke ground two years ago. Here’s a link to a post from back then: sentinels
That is an interesting thing to watch develop. π

It’s actually pretty ho hum. It’s the change between start and finish that is startling.

Sometimes you have to be patient, though. They were in the middle of expanding Houston’s Gulf Freeway when I first moved here in 1973. They’re still expanding it, and the construction zones are everywhere. Now, let’s see… I’ve experienced 47 years of nearly continuous construction. The possibility that they’ll ever finish it is considered an urban myth around here!

We had an interchange that took 30 years to build because the traffic grows faster than the road they built. The cynic in me thinks theyβre just milking the system; perpetual job security.

I remember your previous Haiku. Amazing how quickly these buildings go up really.
