  1. I was intrigued by your insight of finding beauty in the struggle between havoc and normal. I don’t know if you are an Enneagram fan, but one aspect of the Enneagram that I learned from my teachers was known as the “spiritual domains” of the Enneagram. This subject relies on the understanding that when two opposite qualities are held in tension, a third quality emerges, incorporating and transcending the other two. Each Enneagram space has a pair of opposites that can give rise to something higher. At the Nine space, the poles are “sacred and profane”, also sometimes named “cosmos and chaos” or “order and hazard”. Your poem reminded me of this tension. A couple of years ago, I wrote a post about this quality of the Enneagram Nine space. If you would like to read it, you can find it here:

    1. Thank you, Bob. I’m a spiritual director trained through the worldview of Ignatian Spirituality. I read Cron and Stabile’s “The Way Back To You” to help me walk with directees. I’ve come to appreciate the wisdom of heart, mind, and body of the Enneagram but I have lots to learn. Your post speaks eloquently of the Third or Middle Way of mature spirituality.
