  1. Oh, my. Friends and I have talked about the fact that we’ve never seen a cardinal feather lying around, and we certainly haven’t seen anything like this. Did you give it a proper burial? I don’t mean that to be funny — I once buried a pigeon who died on my balcony. I took it to a local nature center and found an out-of-the way shrubby area. It was better than a trash can.

  2. This is sad, but so common in the spring. Window strike is the main problem as nest building, mating and looking after chicks becomes frenetic. Then, the subsequent loss of young birds that struggle. It is a tough world. Fitting haiku.
