Well, how about this. I thought we shared a species, and then I saw the name. Our similar flower is the silverleaf nightshade (Solanum elaeagnifolium). It has the same purple flowers, and the same banana-like stamens. I saw my first last weekend, but they clearly have been blooming for some time, and the plants are big and healthy.
