2015.05.25: memorial

The dead can no more give praise than those who have never lived;
they who are alive and well glorify the Lord. – Sir 17:28

yesterday is gone
tomorrow will be here soon
today’s all you have

don’t tarry too long
tomorrow may never come
live your all today

give praise where it’s due
make peace and love while you can
don’t regret in death

2015.05.22: more than these

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,* “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” – Jn 21:15

What are these that I love more than my Lord?
Shed the light on me that I may see
Reveal the truth to me that I may repent
Show me wisdom that I may understand
Grant me humility that I may accept
Give me courage to change
Lord, I want to know these now
rather than at the hour of my death
I want to love you more than these

2015.05.20: belonging and longing

“They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.” – Jn 17:16

he does not belong to the world
we do not belong to the world
we belong with him
we belong to him
we belong to you
we belong with you
we long to be with you
our longing rests in you
your longing rests in us
long before we became aware
your longing was with us
our longing is your longing
we will not rest until we bring your longing home
